California Medicare PPOs
Medicare PPO plans are not offered by many companies yet, but this should be changing over the next few years. Other states have a variety of plans and carriers from which to choose but not yet in California.
Currently you may have a Medicare PPO offered only by Anthem Blue Cross. Like other PPO plans, you have copay for office visits, require a deductible for other services, include prescription drugs and limit your maximum out of pocket costs.
While there are copays and deductibles, these costs are more than offset by the zero premium in all California counties. Remember that you don't incur a cost unless you actually use the service.
If you have a Medicare Supplement and are looking to reduce your costs, a PPO plan might be perfect. The plans will pay doctors both in the PPO network and outside the network so you have no difficulty seeing a Medicare contracted physician. Rather than paying $2,500 or more per year for a supplement and drug plan, this type of policy can be "just what the doctor ordered".
We can provide you with more information on this plan as well as others when they become available.
